The Adi Kailash Yatra 2026 is a technical high-altitude traverse into the heart of the Kumaon Himalayas — and one of India's most spiritually charged pilgrimages. The journey begins with the tranquil energy of Kainchi Dham, the ashram of Neem Karoli Baba, and the ancient jurisprudence of Chitai Golu Devta, known for its forest of thousands of bells.

At 14,731ft, Adi Kailash (Chota Kailash) serves as a sacred mirror to the Tibetan Mount Kailash — yet unlike its counterpart, it is fully accessible to pilgrims who can touch its base and bathe in Parvati Kund. The route also takes you to Om Parvat, where snow permanently forms the sacred syllable ॐ on the black rock face at the India–Nepal–Tibet tri-nation border.

Two permits are mandatory: the Inner Line Permit (ILP) and the Protected Area Permit (PAP). Both are issued at the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office in Dharchula, Uttarakhand. As a Pithoragarh-native agency, Gotrek processes all permits directly — you submit your documents 15 days before departure, and we handle the rest. We have never had a batch delayed due to permits in 8 seasons.

No — Indian citizens only need a valid Aadhaar Card. However, since Adi Kailash and Om Parvat fall within a sensitive tri-border zone (India–Nepal–Tibet), the ILP + PAP are non-negotiable. Foreign nationals are currently prohibited from entering this restricted zone under Indian law, regardless of visa type.

We recommend submitting all documents (Aadhaar, photos, blood group certificate, MBBS fitness certificate) at least 15 working days before your departure date. This gives our Dharchula team sufficient time to process both permits and resolve any administrative queries without rush.
