The Sacred
Geology
Om Parvat rises at the tri-nation convergence of India, Nepal, and Tibet in the Vyas Valley of Pithoragarh district. At 5,590 meters, its defining miracle is geological: snow naturally deposits in the exact pattern of the sacred syllable 'ॐ' (Om) against the peak's black rock face — a phenomenon visible from the Nabhidhang vantage at 4,256 meters.
Revered as a Kailash-equivalent peak in the Kumaon pilgrimage tradition, the Om Parvat Yatra is one of India's most spiritually charged high-altitude journeys. The darshan requires no technical mountaineering — it is a vehicle-based yatra accessible to moderately fit pilgrims.

What to Wear
The Vyas Valley experiences brutal temperature swings: 25°C at Dharchula, dropping to -8°C overnight at Nabhidhang. The mandatory three-layer system is non-negotiable for participant safety.

- Merino Thermal Top & Bottom
- Moisture-wicking Tees ×3
- Liner Socks ×4
- Thermal Gloves
Insulation
700-fill down jacket or heavy fleece. The heat-trapping core layer critical for Nabhidhang nights where temperatures drop to -8°C. Do not skip this layer.
- 700-fill Down Jacket
- Woolen Balaclava
- Insulated Gloves
- Fleece Mid-layer
Outer Shell
Hardshell Gore-Tex or equivalent waterproof-breathable jacket and pants. Must withstand 50km/h ridge winds and unexpected snowfall above 3,500m.

"Life-changing. Nothing prepares you for the ॐ."
I've done Char Dham and Amarnath, but nothing—absolutely nothing—prepares you for the moment you see the natural ॐ etched in snow against a black mountain face. Gotrek's team handled everything from the ILP to oxygen supply. Mukesh ji's local knowledge is unmatched. We felt like we were in the hands of family, not a tour operator.

Questions
8 years of Om Parvat Yatras. These are the questions every pilgrim asks before their first darshan.
Two permits are mandatory: the Inner Line Permit (ILP) and the Protected Area Permit (PAP). Both are issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office in Dharchula, Uttarakhand. As a Pithoragarh-native agency, Gotrek handles all paperwork on your behalf — you simply submit your documents 15 days before departure.
Typically 3–5 working days when documents are submitted correctly. We begin processing immediately upon receiving your Aadhaar copy, passport photos, blood group certificate, and MBBS fitness certificate. We have never had a batch delayed due to permit issues in 8 years of operation.
The Vyas Valley and Nabhidhang fall within a highly sensitive border zone (India–Nepal–Tibet tri-junction). Foreign nationals are currently not permitted to enter this restricted area under Indian law, regardless of visa type. The yatra is exclusively for Indian citizens holding valid Aadhaar.
